It's a strategic place if you look at threats coming from Yemen.
Now, a lot of countries in the Arab world, though, are worried about something else, that the Israelis may be looking for a place to send Palestinians from Gaza.
Somaliland and Israel are downplaying that.
But Somalia and 20 other countries are protesting Israel's recognition.
And this is going to be a topic for an emergency security council meeting later today.
Somalia is on the security council and taking over the presidency in January.

More than 20 Arab and African states have joined Somalia in condemning the move, calling Israel's recognition a blatant disregard to international law.
There are fears in the region that the Israelis want to move Palestinians in Gaza to Somaliland, though authorities in Somaliland say Gaza was not part of the talks on establishing relations.
Somaliland plans to join the Abraham Accords, the normalization deals with Israel that started during the first Trump administration.
It's a topic that could come up in Trump's talks with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Monday in Florida.

Trump's 20-point peace plan for Gaza is still in phase one.
The president has yet to name his so-called Board of Peace for Gaza, and there's still no international force there.
Israel has set up a yellow line in the territory controlling one side,
and continuing to carry out strikes on the other.
Netanyahu has said the peace plan can't move to the next phase until Hamas returns the body of the last Israeli hostage, though Hamas says everyone who knew where that body was has been killed.
Gaza isn't the only thing on Netanyahu's agenda.
Israeli officials say that Iran is building up its arsenal of ballistic missiles, months after Trump ordered massive strikes on nuclear sites in Iran.
