England have more of a chance than they would do with this squad they've got issues in defense they still can't keep the ball properly it's funny like after eight years of a revolution in England where they have finally started to get to to finals again where Tuchel's been brought in to get them over the line it's funny how some of the same questions still apply a is keeping the ball in big games and in tournaments like this and then b is just what Tuchel is really here for which is
what's going to happen the first time you play a major nation.
Because even though Southgate got them through big runs, every time they played a team that was really thinking about winning it, they lost.
So that's the big test.
But I could deal with Tuchel a lot.
I'll be with the England camp in Kansas City from tomorrow and doing their first game against Croatia.
He's been very focused on, say, the chemistry of the team,
you know how to create the spirit what sort like i think they've done a lot of work on psychology uh and obviously like i think he's probably one of the most tactically adept coaches at tournaments it's funny there's been a shift in international football in 2018 there wasn't a single manager at the world cup who'd won a major league or champions league in this one i think it's partly related to kind of the commercial opportunities of the of a u.s world cup there's a lot of them with tuka and shawty being the biggest
But, I mean, Luis Enrique was the Spanish coach at the last World Cup, went out last 16, and a relative nobody in Luis De La Fuente wins it.
And obviously that's actually relevant to the England debate, not to say Lee Carsley's a nobody.
But I still think England were playing better football under Carsley than they were under Tuchel.
Let me go to Dion on that.
yeah i mean this is like there aren't many goal scorers you know discussion has been had in football for for years now norway have the best in the world maybe other than harry kane another potential differential for england and there is opportunity there norway i wouldn't be surprised to see them in the semi-final i have to say like it's a bit of a it's a bit like an irish squad in 2002 really in terms of they've got well they've got one world-class player one recent title winner in odegaard and then kind of a team of different profiles um
And that, look, that gives them opportunity.
Maybe, especially in a World Cup like this, it's going to be quite fractured.
Well, actually, just slightly to the west of New York City, I'm actually in Union City, 10 minutes from Penn Station.
But we're there, if not quite right behind me now, if I step outside our base, I can see the, I've got to have to say, an amazing view of the New York skyline and all the NYX colours that were up as I came in last night.
Yeah, yeah.
And a scale that has contributed to issues, and I think actually brings a bit of risk for what the World Cup is.
I don't think I'd agree with Gianni Infantino on much.
