It was like millions of Christians killing Christians for 30 years.

It was a bloodbath.

His own father dies as a mercenary.

1619 to 1648.

Okay.

Yeah.

So he could see it clearly where everything was going as a Christian versus Protestant forever war kind of.

And he's trying to get across that, hey, look,

we lack a sense of the higher purpose of creation.

People just lack that.

And so because of that lack of a sense of like the universe being discoverable and thus has certain attributes that we would

should want to admire and be more dignified in our lives and less sloppy in our thinking.

That was his way of intervening on his world was to say, okay, let's prove it.

Let's not just say it's some flaky statement, but let's actually prove it, which then guides his discovery of the third planetary law, which is his harmonic law that, again, is based upon the idea that

It's a mathematical proof that if you take the average distance of any planet from the sun cubed, and you compare that to the temporal periodicity of the planet's rotation around the sun squared,

Together, there's a consistency of all of the planets that have that same relationship of the average distance cubed to the periodicity squared that would be maintained, right?

And that's his third law.

His second law was proven in 1608 or 09 with his new astronomy, which proved that of all possible shapes, it cannot be a circle.

The orbits must, it just, it can't be circular.

They can't be oval.
