This made global headlines, and everybody was excited that a decades-old mystery was finally solved.

But turns out, he couldn't have been more wrong.

Because upon closer examination this past week, turns out what he actually found was a giant rock shaped kind of like an airplane.

Hey, that's still cool, though.

That's a fun rock.

My kids would want to put it in their pocket.

Hey, that rock also couldn't fly.

He calls it an unfortunate rock formation that looked like wings and a tail.

What are the odds?

So kind of a bummer.

He says he's super disappointed, but I guess that's life.

And the nine million plus dollars worth of equipment and wages and time spent was all wasted on a rock.

A really cool looking rock, but a rock still.

I still kind of want to go visit the rock.

Doesn't it kind of make it more exciting?

Well, he has vowed to start the search all over again.

Eliminate rocks, probably.

This time it was a pile of garbage in the water.

I feel like he's not the expert that we need on this case.
