At Desert One, most people are familiar with that term, but if you're not, this was the first attempt to rescue the hostages in Tehran back in the 80s.
And there was an accident.
There were eight American fatalities and 17 children left without a father.
And good on them.
I mean, the guys that were associated with it, I don't know if it actually happened right then and there, but at some point immediately after this incident, they all got together, the survivors of the mission, and said, let's pass the hat and help fund college education for these 17 kids that are left fatherless.
