The only difference is the way they get that cut is by bringing them onto D&D Beyond and then taking their cut from the sales of the D&D Beyond sale. So they're basically getting the same thing they wanted, a little bit more limited, and certainly with much more freedom to the publisher. But it's still kind of the same thing, only they wouldn't have had to cause a big catastrophe to do it.

So when that 5.2 SRD comes out, that will be a big benchmark. And another big benchmark will be a new starter set, which is coming out later this year. So once that's happened, it'll be about three years since the initial part of 1D&D, and we will actually have everything at that point. But we already know what the rule set is.

The main thing that we were waiting for with 1D&D is what is the rule set going to be like? And now we don't have to speculate about that anymore. And here's where I think it's a really valuable thing to, here's a really valuable thing I think is important to understand. Now it's our turn. Now we have the books.

We no longer need to look to them or try to get them to do anything one way or the other. The books are in our hands. They're not going to change. I can complain about the fact that monsters have spells that are buried in there, but now I'm not going to be able to change that. So what I can do is try to fix it myself.

What are some house rules that I can put in place that make it easier for me to be able to run spellcasting monsters than they have in the book? There's lots of different things that we can do in order to change things. And we should feel free to change them.

We should, once we're playing it, when we see the rough edges, when we see things that don't gel with us in our group, we should feel free to try things out, to use it different ways, to come up with new house rules. The system is ours now. We now own it, right? We own, we own 1D&D. We've got it right here. I had to lift up again. I think I hurt my shoulder. Right.

We've got it right here that we have the set of books and they're not going to change. We can't make them change in a way that we want them to. But what we can do is come up with new and interesting ways that we can share with everybody else about ways to make these books work really well for our table. That is something we can do. And maybe the answer to that is trying something else.
