This would have been a very busy part of Taron.
There's no one here.
But despite all the destruction, coming home at a time of war, one never knows who you will find or meet.
It's these moments of joy, of survival, that returnees look for.
This is Juma.
I haven't seen Juma in about five years.
But I've known Juma for forever.
And it's so good to see him.
And he's telling me about the horrors that they had to endure during those first few days.
He used to live south, in south of Khartoum.
He said he was there.
He had been beaten, abused, saw women being raped.
They had to run.
They had to run for their life.
And he said that when they came back, he came back here in July last year.
And when they came here,
This place was littered with bodies and they are still cleaning and they are finding.
And he says that I should go down the road to where that used to be the corner shop from where we would buy our stuff as children.
And he says there they are still cleaning blood.
