But investors are betting a higher price will be required to close a deal.

DoorDash has also expressed interest in Delivery Hero's Middle Eastern business, Talabat, but has yet to put in an offer.

And SoftBank shares climbed to a record high today, up 4.6 percent, spurred by hopes of big returns from the Japanese investor's stakes in OpenAI and SB Energy should the two go public.

OpenAI could file for an IPO in the coming days.
