Iran has shot down a second U.S.

fighter jet, marking a significant escalation as the war in Iran now enters its sixth week.

The U.S.

is also still searching for a second crew member of another downed jet, and former Deputy CENTCOM Commander Vice Admiral Robert Harward says that could affect operations.

Iran has offered a bounty for that crew member.

The other pilot was safely rescued.

In a phone interview with NBC, President Trump didn't discuss the operation, but did say the events wouldn't affect ongoing negotiations with Iran.
