After locating Steven, a faction of searchers went off looking for Mike and they would find his frozen body among the trees, naked from the waist up. Stephen was ultimately airlifted out of the park and would not suffer from any lasting physical injuries. Mike would become the fifth and final victim of Forrest Fenn's book.

Because three months after Mike's death in June of 2020, a man named Jack Stoof actually found Forrest Fenn's treasure.
