Now, unfortunately, this community actually burned to the ground in 1864 and afterwards they rebuilt.
But then in 1905, disaster struck again and it burned to the ground again.
And this time they did not rebuild.
Instead, the community was leveled to the ground, was sold off, and then eventually was just abandoned and became a big empty field.
After the story of Robert's miraculous recovery began to spread, some people began to think that the woman in black might have been a ghost of one of these Acton residents from the 1800s who basically was drawn out to save Robert's life.
Also, her intense prayers and speaking in tongues, along with the woman disappearing back into the field where the Acton campground had been, certainly seemed to cement the idea that this theory could actually be true.
However, since that day in 1980, no one has seen the woman in black again.
