The first trading day of the second quarter of 2026 is officially underway on Wall Street with stocks on the rise.
That is the sound of the opening bell from the floor of the New York Stock Exchange.
The S&P 500 at the open is up six-tenths of 1%, a gain of 40 points.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average is higher by about seven-tenths of 1% or more than 300 points.
The Nasdaq Composite opens in the green as well by seven-tenths of 1%.
as investors assess the latest signals on the war with Iran.
In a social media post this morning, President Trump said Iran's, quote, new regime president has asked for a ceasefire, but that he won't consider it until the Strait of Hormuz is open.
This comes less than a day after the president told reporters in the Oval Office that the war could wind down in two to three weeks without mentioning the Strait.
