I loved it.
And we were at a ball.
We were at a Melbourne Footy Club ball in the middle of the year.
And it was at the stage of the ball where all the formalities were over and, you know, everyone's up dancing.
And I was just sitting down there and he grabs a bottle of red and he came and sat down and he put the red down and, you know,
And I loved getting, I got on fine with him.
I think others were looking at him as a bit of an ogre, but we had this chat and then I'll never ever forget it.
He just said, how many friends have you got?
This is the depth of the conversation.
He was half whacked, I was half mollied.
And I said, oh, no, 30, 40.
He said, oh, bullshit, you have not.
Like he said, bullshit, you've got 30 or 40 mates.
I said, oh, you know, I've got all these.
He goes, no, I'm not talking.
He said, you're real friends, you know, and just got into it.
And we had this big philosophical debate.
He said, you only ever have three.
But there may be four if you're lucky, three or four good mates.
I was sitting there going, jeez, what's going on in the world?
