House of Prayer guru Christina Gallagher made a fortune collecting money off followers by telling them she was getting apocalyptic messages from Jesus.
Today I'm talking to Crime World's Alan Cherry about how Christina Gallagher is still coining it in in the US.
I'm Niall Donald and this is Crime World, a podcast from crimeworld.com.
So the last time we saw Christina Gallagher, she was being chased by her good self out of Dr. Quirky's Good Time Emporium.
Do they still use the full name in Fibs?
I believe they do, yeah.
And now it's a good time in their opinion.
Some people might say it's not the most glamorous.
She'd been in there doing the slot machines, basically.
It's not Monte Carlo, no.
No.
It's not Monte Carlo.
So it looks quite, you know, it's not Monte Carlo and it's not the most glamorous.
But we heard from your story how while she may be putting in a few euro coins into the slot machines,
there's still big money in the house of prayer surrounding Christina Gallagher.
For the people who don't know her well, tell us a bit about, well, we describe her as a fake visionary.
Now, she had a lot of very apocalyptic visions.
Would have been, you know, the end of the world is coming.
And a lot of her, I suppose, you could call them clients or followers, they tended to be older people really around the country who were, I suppose, hearing the world was going to end and sure, if the world's going to end, you might as well hand up your money.
Exactly, yeah.
