And so when you are a corner outfielder who's not a fantastic fielder, you have to hit a lot to make that work.
And for him, that's probably going to require an uptick in power.
He's never hit more than 15 home runs.
at any season at the minor leagues.
And so we've actually had a version of this discussion with Nathan Lucas in the past, where it's like, here's a corner outfielder who needs to hit.
And Lucas is better defensively, so the bar isn't quite as high for him.
The bar is high for Pignango.
He's really got to hit at a high level in order to be a valuable player.
So far, he's done it.
Give him tons of credit.
As you mentioned, it is a good-looking swing.
The bat speed is there, which means that the power can be there.
It's just, it's quite a flat swing.
It hasn't been a lot of loft.
It hasn't been a ton of fly balls.
It's been a lot of line drives for him.
And as he gets older, perhaps the power is going to come and you're going to think of him as a big producer in one of the corners.
But he might have to be that in order to be a regular, semi-regular player.
And if he's not, if he's more of just a line drive, good, solid, fundamental type hitter, with his defensive profile, he might not be a future everyday or even the large side of Latune.
He might be more of an interesting bench bat.
