But let's just say they wanted to just look at it potentially.
What would be the number on a five-year deal right now for a guy who's won Rookie of the Year and Cy Young already?
Five years, $250 million.
I was going to say $300 million.
Yeah, that's pretty much what it is.
That's what he'll get in free agency.
But they're not going to do that.
They're going to go through arbitration, let it move gradually up to the point where, like I said, I think Scooble, they tried to offer him a deal in Detroit last year, and he didn't want any part of it.
So I think that's the kind of stuff you're going to be dealing with.
He's going to bet on himself and go through this process.
It'll be interesting for the Pirates, but it gets underway this week down in Bradenton, Florida.
I know Jason Mackey's down there.
He'll do a great job covering this for the Post-Gazette.
I'm sure we'll be hearing from him along the way because there still could be some unfinished business about their starting pitching staff and also the pursuit of a third baseman.
And again, I say this with total respect for Jarrett Triolo.
I think he's a really good player.
I think he has a role on any team.
You name it.
Dodgers, they would want, anybody would want a Jarrett Triolo, just not as an everyday starter.
That's where I think it changes for me.
