I think of Sean McVay.

Yeah, he followed Kyle Shanahan everywhere, but he had been around the league.

He had had different voices in his year.

And then when he got hired, he hired guys like Wade Phillips and a bunch of vet coaches to build out a staff.

I don't know what his average age of assistance were probably on his first staff there in L.A.

It had to be over 50 years old.

You know, he had a bunch of tenure on that staff.

And so you have to have a guy that's self-aware.

You have to have a guy that is really kind of mentally made up like that, has a clear plan on what they want to do, what they've learned from each stop and how they're going to mold everything together.

You know, that's why I'm always a little bit concerned about the Udinski types, the Doyle types, because those guys are really fresh guys.

Clay Kubiak even more so.

That's my holdup with Clay Kubiak is while he's worked under Shanahan, I think there's a lot there to be really impressed by.

He's only worked under Shanahan.

This guy was a high school football coach five years ago.

That, to me, a little concerning, a little inexperienced, especially with a young quarterback.

If you're bringing in a young quarterback and you want to build around that quarterback,

I'm always like, you know, that guy needs to have some experience, some legit tenure, some legit influences from multiple areas, usually to fix that in.

And so to me, inexperience can be a little bit intriguing, sure, because of the new shiny thing, but it can also be terrifying.

You don't want to just hire a guy because he's the new young up and comer.
