the overwhelming sensations.
Now is not the time to dive into our deepest trauma, right?
We need to gradually warm our system up so that we can, again, avoid the habit of then overwhelming ourself even more and going right back into that shutdown state.
So small ways that we can inspire, whether it's physical movement or emotional movement into our day so that we're staying safely and
in that kind of contained window of not going back into that overwhelmed state.
But I think the lack of shame piece is really helpful to hear.
And then we can begin to do, again, a little bit of inspired action, taking breaks when we need to, so that we can resource our nervous system so that we don't have to go back into that shutdown state.
Yeah.
And shame is, again, a byproduct, again, of childhood, that sense of unworthiness, that sense of we are the problem.
That's where shame begins to develop.
But it very much maps on to this shutdown nervous system state that we're both describing.
And so even you saying time settling in.
Right.
She gave me space because to this day, in moments where I'm emotionally flooded and overwhelmed, I will be the first to admit I don't know what I'm feeling.
I just know I'm having a feeling.
Because my voice is getting louder.
I'm talking quicker.
I'm having the thoughts that I want to shut down and leave you, even though I know I don't want to leave you.
Right.
That fleeing in my mind.
