You know, one of the things that I, when I teach other people about campaigning is that
You need to be able to really clearly explain the problem and also have a really clear solution, which is clear, measurable and specific.
You also need to have a clearly defined decision maker, the person that has the power to actually make that change.
Because often times I see campaigns where they spend an awful lot of time convincing the wrong people.
They're convincing people that actually don't have the power to make the change.
So I thought I think I can help the Millthorpe family and the Millthorpe sisters because they've done the research.
They had the lived experience to talk about the impact of the justice system.
What they don't have is a megaphone.
They needed you to amplify them.
And so that is essentially what became the Justice Shouldn't Hurt campaign.
To do that, we actually had to, because in New South Wales, you know, survivors can self-identify in media, provided they're over a certain age.
And because of the girls' young ages, we did actually need to go to court and get them a court order to exempt them so that they could self-identify in the media.
And we made a lot of very...
We worked really hard with the family to tell their story in a way that was sensitive and ethical and respectful.
You know, I didn't ask them a single question about the abuse or the abuser.
I didn't name the abuser.
I didn't go into a single detail about any of that.
No, no, because of their age.
Yeah.
Okay, so they were five and eight when the abuse happened.
