There's a great quote by Judith Herman that if you set out to design a system to provoke the symptoms of trauma, it would look very much like our current criminal justice system.
So the girls, very bravely, as part of the Justice Shouldn't Hurt campaign, told their story and had written a petition.
And the goal was to get 20,000 signatures on the petition, because if you get 20,000 signatures in New South Wales, then...
Parliament is committed to at least debating the issue.
When we broke the story on news.com.au, we got those 20,000 signatures within eight hours, which was huge for the girls.
Yeah, and huge kudos to the girls.
And then three months later, so we continued to write story after story about this.
their plight as a family, but also about other people's experiences within New South Wales of access to this program and the fact that it needed to be rolled out across the whole state.
And three months later, the government came to the party and they committed $64.3 million to roll out that program across the whole state.
I raise that because I just think that those sisters, what they did
is extraordinary and deserves every accolade under the sun.

Well, I think that like I love campaigning and the thing about campaigning is you need a clearly defined problem, a clearly defined solution.
