Mexican Security Secretary Omar Garcia Harfuch said the abduction of 10 individuals there took place on January 24th.
and that federal and state authorities are searching for victims.
Garcia Harfuch said a cell of the Chapitos faction of the Sinaloa cartel operates in the area where the mine is located.
He says authorities have identified and are searching for a local leader of the group.
Canada's Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a statement they're actively monitoring the incident and are not aware of any Canadian citizens among those abducted.

Sheinbaum and her administration attribute the decline to her government's security strategy.
But violent crime remains common in some parts of Mexico.
