British Prime Minister Keir Starmer says the UK played no role in the strikes, but has long been clear that the Iranian regime is abhorrent, that it's murdered thousands of their own people and is a threat to others.

He says Iran has backed more than 20 potentially lethal attacks on British soil.

But Starmer said Iran has within its power to end the hostilities.

In a video statement released overnight, President Trump urged the Iranian people to rise up against the government.

Satellite images appear to show that the compound of the Supreme Leader Ayatollah Khomeini has been destroyed in the strikes.

Congressional Democrats are questioning that Trump launched airstrikes since Congress is responsible for waging war under the Constitution.

They're calling for members to pass a resolution ordering the withdrawal of U.S.

forces from hostilities.
