A federal judge has ordered the Trump administration to release money for a new rail tunnel between New York and New Jersey.

It had frozen $16 billion, saying the project violated its restrictions on diversity, equity and inclusion.

Judge Jeanette Vargas issued a temporary restraining order to restore the money while the matter is being litigated, saying the states would otherwise suffer irreparable harm.

The Hudson Tunnel project is to ease the strain on the 110-year-old tunnel that connects New York and New Jersey rail traffic.
