Many more hope to do so before it ends on the 26th of February. But with large crowds come risks. Last month, at least 30 people died in a stampede.

Now pilgrims travelling to or from the festival have been caught up in a crush at the main train station in the capital, New Delhi. At least 15 people are reported to have been killed, including three children. The deputy commissioner of Delhi Police, KPS Malhotra, said the station was overcrowded.
