I did quite a lot of work with the police and looking at this for county lines and explained to them that when you're looking at the people they're dealing with, we have to divide people into two groups.
And that is those who have moral conscience.
And we appeal to that.
And talk them through the idea that, you know, how are you going to feel having got this medal or whatever you're doing?
And in county lines, how would you feel about the damage to people?
You wake up their conscience and that generally they start to regulate and you help them do that.
However, there will be a subgroup of people who do not have that.
So there's no point in appealing compassionately to, you know, what are you doing to other athletes in this case?
In which case you've got to state the rules that if you get caught, this is how people see you.
That often affects them because their egos and narcissism comes in.
Have you turned someone round?
Yes.
We're aware that somebody may be going down a route and, yes, behind locked doors, I've talked to them and woken up the conscience and I've explained, once you've done that, the person has self-esteem.
