You know, you can kind of see yourself, right?
And this is the irony of it.
When Christ Church New Zealand happened,
That was kind of our worst nightmare as Texas Muslims, because we've had armed groups in front of our mosques threatening to do what that man did in Christchurch.
And so when you see a wife and kids wondering if they're going to get their dad back...
You kind of see yourself there.
And so I just saw myself in that situation.
What would I want people to be doing for me in that moment?
What would I want people to be telling my family in that moment?
So that's really where I went to and that's really where I dug into.
And I prayed a lot that day, a lot, a lot for the right words, for the right actions, what I could do to just help.
Just don't be indifferent.
Don't be indifferent to the suffering around you or even that's distant from you because it's somehow related to you.
So just don't be indifferent.
I don't think I did much.
I'm being really honest.
This is not me trying to be humble here.
I don't think I did much.
I think I did what I was called to do.
