TSM baseball insider Steve Phillips, and he joins us here on Overdrive.

What is your sense of kind of the way things are operating throughout Major League Baseball, Steve, in terms of, you know, there seems to be more negative than positive with a lot of these teams and a lot of the players throughout the league.

So last night, Louis Varlin does it again.

You know, this year the team came into the season thinking, okay, Jeff Hoffman's going to be our closer.

We had Ross Atkins on prior to the season saying, you know, we believe in Jeff.

He's going to be our guy.

And Hoffman, you know, his play obviously fell off to begin the season.

He's been much better recently.

But as a result, it's propped up Varlin, and Varlin has earned it based on his numbers.

They're basically perfect.

And I'm curious, Steve, when they acquired him last year from Minnesota, do you think they had any idea that this was possible?

And where do you stand on Varlin kind of grabbing this role now as the highest leveraged arm that John Schneider has and will continue to go to and holding on to that title for the rest of the year?
