What's the pre-existing conditions rule?
So generally when you switch health insurers, whatever level of cover you're on can be carried over instantly to the other health insurer.
But if you change the policy in any way,
you might find that you have to serve waiting periods.
And waiting periods are effectively times that you have to serve before you can claim on it.
Now, extras cover is the cover that you get for things that are like out of hospital.
And once again, you don't have to have the same hospital and extras policy.
You can have them split up.
You could go with the best hospital cover and then get a lower level of extras.
It's just that the health insurers like you to get it together because they can make more money from you.
And one of the things that you'll notice is that

So a lot of people have done studies to find that if you just put money aside, you're probably better off than actually taking the extras cover.
