NATO without the US is just not existent.
I do think that, you know, we're in a different phase compared to just a year ago where the focus was on trying to close any distance between the US and Europe and try to salvage the relationship as much as possible.
And I think there has been a shift to, of course, keep the relationship and try to mend it whenever there are episodes like the threats over Greenland.
but also we should be diversifying away and trying to find other partners, especially in the economic realm.
And so you have seen a lot of push, especially from Brussels, but a number of capitals in Europe
to sign trade deals with other powers.
The EU recently signed a trade deal with the Mercosur bloc in Latin America.
Just overnight, they also signed a trade deal with India.
Both were decades in the making.
There is a realization that since the closest and most significant relationship in terms of economic partnership, but also security partnership for Europe is on the rocks, Europe should really be looking elsewhere, at least when it comes to the economic prosperity side of it.
For security, as we discussed, I think that there is still a lot of skepticism whether Europe can go it alone.
Well, you know, the news cycle has had some really, really fast-paced moments in the past year.
And most of those moments have had to deal with President Donald Trump.
And so I feel that, you know, Europe is very regularly on the back foot when dealing with him.
And so its response is often negative.
It takes long to decide.
Also, Europe is a consortium of 27 member states where decisions often are lengthy and need to be taken, if not by consensus, at least by a large majority.
And so we are not equipped to deal with a U.S.
president that is so erratic in its decisions.
