There are so many shots in one game.
And not to mention the S&C side of it, that players are just even fitter and faster now, so they can get off more shots for that sense.
I'd agree with John.
There was definitely... The excitement in was unreal.
The colour was brilliant.
I suppose it's a bit of nostalgia even for me, looking back as a youngster, thinking of some of those great games.
And the likes of Ken McGrath and catching high balls...
I don't know maybe the high fielding was more regular then and you'd miss that now sometimes like I hope one thing they're looking into the new rules you'd love to see an area where like that the high fielding comes back in a small bit more because I think the best rule for me that's improved Gaelic football maybe apart from the arc and I don't even watch much of it is that the kickouts are going longer now and people are back contesting high fielding kickouts in the middle of the field which is
like when I think back to the 2000s and Gaelic football it was high fielding as well that was great you know the likes of Dara O'Shea and these fellas that would just be you know Ciarán Whelan there in midfield for Dublin why don't you remember he had the big soccer gloves on he used to be catching on yeah yeah yeah so the likes of Ken McGrath obviously Kenny Fares these boys they were unbelievable at that point I think Ireland's in a great place to be honest if they are changing it I wouldn't make too many changes no
Compared to the 2000s or even before, it's a two-sided kind because it was so great then.
And what you're talking about is the feel of an anticipation and the greatness of knockout hurling and such because there was less games.
And I think what happened was people were watching hurling.
It was so great.
And they were like, look lads, this is so great.
We need to have more games.
You know what I mean?
And what they've given us is more games, but you can never replicate knockout hurling a knockout championship.
So at the end of the day, you can only ever get that feeling when it gets to knockout or when it gets to real jeopardy.
So we wanted more games and we've gotten more games, which is great.
But at the same time, John, maybe in the early 2000s and stuff, there was more jeopardy on every game.
