No, there isn't.
No, there's no register specifically for that, but we're all specifically registered with our governing body, like for nurses, for example, the NMBI.
So everybody has a registration.
Dentists will have a registration.
Doctors have a registration.
And so do nurses.
But there's no overall for aesthetic medicine because it's only beginning to be recognised as an area in medicine.
Okay, first of all, you make an appointment for a consultation.
You never have a procedure without having a consultation.
You go in and you suss out that place and you get a gut feeling to make sure it's medical, that it's clean.
Ask about the practitioner's experience.
How long have they been doing this?
What are their qualifications?
Ask to see if they should have their certificates up on the wall or be able to show them to you that they are qualified and have done ongoing education.
Because it's changing all the time.
I know myself, I'm continually doing further education to ensure that I'm practicing in the safest way possible.
So for me, go into, but never have your procedure on the day you have the consultation.
You should always go away and have a cooling off period.
So you can think about, is this something I really want to do and how safe it is?
And then I would never treat anybody on the same day.
