It's like a smart bubble bath or a smart glass of white wine.
But yeah, so...
I sort of gobbled that up with great gusto.
I mean, that's a good question.
Yeah, I hope it is.
And I hope people can recommend some more novels in that genre to me because I loved it.
This book's set in the 90s in Boston.
The main character's an aspiring novelist.
Surprise, surprise.
She's dealing with the grief of her mother's recent and sudden passing.
And she's also trying to get her first novel off the ground.
So classic coming-of-age artist story.
But it's not a heavy book.
It's not a particularly worthy book.
It's really full of joy and light and lots of nostalgia, but nostalgia that feels responsible.
There is a lot of references to
what it's actually like to be a writer, what it's actually like to suffer under crippling student debt.
So it's fun and lively, but it's not unrealistic, if we want to say that.
So when we meet Katie in the then timeline of the novel, she's a recently graduated ex-university student.
She's living just outside of London with her mother, who's ailing from a form of cancer.
