Number one, the ability is incredibly โ the ceiling is incredibly high.
But the most impressive thing is the maturity in his daily routine.
And I'm not comparing him to this pitcher, but a lot of the guys that have been around here a long time compare him in terms of his work ethic and his routine to a young Zach Greinke.
As we know, Zach was a very dedicated person in terms of what he wanted to do to prepare to pitch.
And Kendry Churio has very similar type daily activities with his throwing program, his sides, his conditioning, his weight room work.
All of that is beyond his 18 years of age.
And when you give him something to strive for, he puts it into play rather quickly.
His IQ on the mound is extremely high.
a high school senior right now, we'd be talking about a top 10 pick in the draft.
In the international market, you know, and credit to the entire international crew on this one, sometimes still, despite all of the processes that are now in the game, guys like this flip through.
And he wasn't a 96, 98 mile an hour guy when they signed him.
But once we get guys like this in the academy and they get proper training, proper eating habits, routines and whatnot, we have seen and will continue to see guys make big jumps.
So, no, he wasn't an international phenom at any stretch.
but again, you will find guys like this that will come into the academy in the Dominican, and once under the guiding eyes of Victor Baez and his group, we will see things like this.
What you don't necessarily see is the makeup end of it, that this kid, and he was raised right in Venezuela, and he was under the tutelage of a really good...
pitching group down there.
And so, you know, when you add all these things up, it makes a lot of sense.
The common denominator with both of these young guys is their baseball IQ, their work ethic, and their desires.
Where they're different, obviously one's right-handed, one's left-handed.
