Let me give you a specific example.
Are boys more likely to bully than girls?
Do we see that kind of behavior amongst other mammals?
That is such an obvious statement the way you make it.
I don't think of it that way, but I completely noticed that even thinking back to high school.
Like we would, as boys, get into huge fights and it would be over by the end of the day.
So let's talk a little bit about the pathology, though.
You just alluded to it.
There aren't too many female murderers and rapists.
And the disproportionate representation of men in violent crime, you don't need statistics to understand that.
So what role does testosterone play in that?
We can't attribute that to testosterone levels.
It's so interesting when you think about how, as humans, we hold ourselves to a higher standard than we would hold animals.
I'll give you a very concrete example.
So if we go back in time 500 years, first of all, neither of us would be alive.
Forget that part of the discussion.
But let's just say 500 years ago, if you had a male that was 25 years old,
he would readily reproduce with a 14-year-old female.
That would be completely normal and evolutionarily wise.
But we've made a decision, at least in our society, that that's unacceptable.
