She says, ''I witnessed an event which really showed Christmas cheer when an elderly lady became unstable when her walking stick broke and Ethan, manager of the Belfry Shopping Centre, came over and tried to mend the cane for her and then, realising it was impossible, he radioed to one of his staff who came out and presented the lady with a brand new cane, free of charge, who says there's no Christmas spirit.''

I'll tell you where you can feel safer when you park your vehicle. And a local village pump that is being renovated.

Now, did you play plenty of games over Christmas? Maybe the traditional kind of Scrabble or Monopoly, or maybe some of those newer ones. There are plenty of them around at the moment, aren't there? Or maybe you invented a few games for yourself, like I did, for my family and friends. Various games.

One was called The North Pole, another one was called Frosty the No-Man, and another one was called Reindeer Hooves. Yeah, you had to be there, but it was a great laugh. Or perhaps you go for more adventurous games, the fantasy ones, a bit like Dungeons and Dragons and then some. Maybe they involve different characters, ingenuity, mythology or maths.

If that's up your street, you love playing games, and you want to prolong your Christmas game-playing into the new year with other people who are keen to play, you know, rather than Uncle Bernard, who does it begrudgingly, or niece Nina, who throws the board on the floor if she doesn't win, then you need to get along to a weekly games meet-up near Hawley.
