Weirdly, like, very, very first World Cup memories from a World Cup long before I was born and it's the 1974 World Cup final which I was shown on repeat as a child.
How old are you?
I was shown on repeat as a child knee skins in Christ and like, this is the best team to never win the World Cup.
Shown that, like, repeatedly by my old fella.
But the very first live World Cup is 2006.
And I was alive in 2002, but I don't remember it unfortunately at all.
I remember 2006, my standing memory of 2006 is the final.
And I remember sitting on the floor in my grandad's house when Zidane got sent off.
And when you're that age, you're just obsessed and infatuated with the best players in the world.
And to see that happen to Zidane, I remember being heartbroken.
Because you knew it was his last game and you didn't really quite grasp that this is the last time you're going to see him.
