I went and got a coach and I went and he tried to coach me, but I wasn't listening.
I was still doing it my own way.
I'll take little bits of what he said, but I'm too smart.
I'll do it my own way.
And it wasn't until I actually gave myself to the coach, it wasn't until I actually gave into it and said, no, I've got to do exactly what he says, that all of a sudden I went from here to here in a short space of time.
And that was a lesson for me about coaching and the value of coaches and what coaches can provide.
But you've got to be coachable too.
That's one thing with players we look for is their personality, their character, and are they coachable?
Because some of them aren't.
They're just not coachable.
Or they've got too many coaches.
They've got too many influences in their life.
They get influenced by way too many things.
Social media and all that sort of thing is something that's a real issue with young men today, particularly in their sports journey and that sort of thing as well.
dealing with the criticism or the evaluation all the magazine shows we have all the podcasts we have all the ex-players that are commenting in the media all the ex-coaches that are commenting in the media and you've really got to say now you need to listen to us not to that yes because that's not helping you
super coach points and how people rate footballers and how people rate what's a good team and what's a bad team and who should they be buying and who should they be letting go.
There's a lot of noise.
There's a lot of noise out there.
They come in after a game and the first thing they do is switch on their mobile phone and flick through whatever they're flicking through to see what people are saying about them.
