And it makes me think you can't run away from your nature because I have this very clear memory of sitting at the back of a maths class, not understanding anything that was happening, but cutting my graph paper, following the lines really precisely, into noodles, tracing coins that I'd pulled out of my pocket and then using pencil shavings as, like, seasoning.
And like, I was like, had my own little hawker store going.
And I was like, I was like the vendor and the customer.
And I just, yeah, such a little weirdo.
Anyway, yeah, and I think back to how, yeah, how funny memories, you don't even think about it, but how they precede what you even know yourself before you know who you are and what you love.
Thank God something is both the anchor and the rudder for you to push you in the right direction even if you've got no bloody idea yourself.
A few years after this you moved to Australia.
You were nine years old, as you mentioned.
What was it like to move from KL to Adelaide?
I felt finally like life would make sense and it was one of those moments
moments that handful of moments in my life where I felt when my parents told me that we were moving to Australia I knew that everything would make sense because up till then school was such a struggle for me um and I had really chronic separation anxiety I would just cry
cry my eyes out to a recess and then like just like literally stagger through the last parts of the day and just was just this incredibly anxious child.
