He's at the Alfred Hospital at the moment in a life-threatening condition.
A further examination of the scene has revealed the body of a 12-year-old boy.
The male that the police shot was the father of the deceased boy.
We've heard some pretty horrific stories of the man.
When police arrived, the man was bashing the kid with a cricket bat.
