Jonathan, how I love this topic, I have to say.
So this was a great study that was published in Nature only a couple of days ago.
And what they did is they followed about half a million people between the age of 37 and 84 years old to see, you know, in terms of how much sleep they got.
The UK Biobank.
To see how much sleep they got and sort of what was the consequence of that.
And what they showed was in terms of kind of detrimental effects, sleep follows this U-shaped curve.
So basically, if you think about the graph on the bottom, on the X, it shows...
the number of hours of sleep.
And then on the Y, then it shows kind of detrimental things like disease and stuff.
So what they found is that sleep follows a U-shaped curve.
So in the middle, it's kind of like Goldilocks porridge.
This is where you want to be.
OK, down at the bottom.
And what they found is that number of hours is between 6.4 and 7.8.
So let's just call it 6 to 8.
So that's where you want to be in terms of the most sort of beneficial sleep, which was surprising to me because the general recommendation is seven to nine for adults.
