There was one friend named Jennifer who she had been living with for a few weeks.

Jennifer would later say that Brenda suggested to her that if she hurt Kendra or Ricky, that Brenda would buy her drugs or even pay for her car.

She asked that Jennifer beat Ricky into a coma with a bat.

She asked that maybe her friend attack Kendra by grabbing her from behind and sticking her with a needle filled with drugs or maybe stabbing her in the chest.

Jennifer wasn't the only one that Brenda was expressing these obsessive thoughts to.

She would tell anybody who would listen about what she wanted to do to Kendra or Ricky.

And anybody who heard about this would tell Brenda to chill, that she doesn't need to do anything crazy.

They said that whatever it is you're trying to do, do not do it.

It is not worth it.

Eventually, Jennifer became so freaked out that she moved out of the apartment that she shared with Brenda.

But Brenda had met another woman through Jennifer.

a 23-year-old single mother named Crystal Cortez.

Crystal had come by the apartment a few times to let her six-year-old son swim in their pool.

Crystal was down on her luck at the time.

She was broke.

She was living in a rundown neighborhood with her mother.

She made $11 an hour and she was barely making ends meet.

Crystal thought that Brenda was just the coolest girl.

Brenda was helping out her friend Jennifer, who was in the middle of a breakup when she moved into Brenda's apartment.

Brenda had nice clothes, nice makeup, a nice TV, and she drove a Lexus.
