She said that the relationship between her and Ricky hadn't been all that serious and that she wasn't upset that they had broken up.
She wasn't concerned with who Ricky was dating, and she had no idea what the girl even looked like.
She said that she didn't know anything about the black Jeep, saying that Crystal was the one who borrowed it.
She said that she did hear about the Jeep being involved with a potential shooting, but she didn't bother to ask Crystal about it.
It didn't concern her.
So, for the first few hours of the investigation, Brenda didn't budge.
She wouldn't admit to any wrongdoing and she definitely wouldn't admit the true nature of her and Ricky's relationship.
Investigators pushed her using the technique of playing good cop to get on her side and then making comments about how awful Ricky was to her, saying that Ricky never thought that she was good enough, maybe he wanted someone better looking and more educated like Kendra.
Someone who came from a nice middle-class family instead of the lower-class, poor family like Brenda was from.
She wasn't even a doctor.
She was just a hygienist.
And Ricky, he wanted more than that.
They acknowledged that she felt stomped on, degraded, and humiliated.
But still, Brenda did not crack.
So, police were initially holding her on a traffic ticket violation, but she got that paid off and she was released shortly after.
They had nothing to hold her on at this time.
Now, like I said earlier, Crystal had come up with a plea agreement with investigators and the prosecution, and that is how we found out about all of this information.
But during these initial stages, police were holding Crystal on charges of capital murder while they continued their investigation to pin down what exactly Brenda's involvement was.
So they looked into Crystal's cell phone records, which showed that she was texting this one number in the days leading up to the murder.
And of course, that number belonged to Christopher Love.
