But they weren't too concerned because, like I said, there were times that Erin would leave and she would say she was going to come home that night, but then she wouldn't come back for, you know, a day or two at a time.
Then, by 2 a.m.
on April 22nd, Erin called her 16-year-old brother, Ryan, and in this phone call, she did sound intoxicated and she asked him to come and pick her up.
This was a pretty normal thing for Erin to do.
She would call Ryan and ask him to come pick her up and most of the time, he would.
However, on this day, Ryan said that he was busy, he was talking on the phone with another girl that he was interested in and he also just didn't want to be up too late because he had school the next day.
After that, the call was ended.
He didn't end up giving her a ride and he hadn't heard from her again the rest of that night or I guess the morning.
So, like I said, when Erin didn't return home that night or the next morning, her family wasn't too concerned, but as hours passed on April 23rd and Erin still hadn't reached out to any of her family members at all, they did start to get a little bit worried.
Normally, when she would go out like this at some point, she would tell her family where she would be,
or at least, you know, they would be able to get into contact with one of her friends and they would tell her where they were.
But this time, she literally just told her parents that she was leaving to go get coffee and just didn't come back and she never said anything after that.
So Erin's mother, Debbie, had started calling around to different friends to see if anybody had been with her or had seen her in the past couple days.
but nobody had.
Debbie also called Aaron's dad Darcy to see what they should do and at that point they decided that they should wait.
They didn't want to get police involved too soon because this was a pattern of behavior.
Plus, she was 18 years old, so they knew that the second that they reported her missing, police would just say that, you know, she's 18, she's probably out partying, and she'll be home in a couple of days.
And everybody in her family truly did believe that she would return home, but she didn't.
April 27th came, and still nobody had heard from Erin, so her parents did go to the police station in Brandon, Manitoba,
to file her as a missing person they emphasized that aaron had taken medications for her mental health issues and they were worried because she hadn't taken it with her they also said that she didn't have any money any of her credit cards or any of her other personal belongings with her
