I finished my dinner.
I washed the pot in snowmelt from a tin bowl on the stove.
I checked the radio again.
Still nothing but static.
I wrote a note in my field journal, which was the closest thing I had to a report to file.
And the note said, Clark Morrison may be misremembering local features.
Worth a follow-up in town.
I dated the entry.
I put the journal in my pack.
It was 8 in the evening.
The storm was still building.
We had at least 10 hours of dark ahead of us.
I decided I was going to stay awake.
Trent and Elise turned in around 9.
Trent read for another 20 minutes and then turned off his headlamp.
Elise rolled toward the wall and was asleep within 10 minutes based on her breathing.
I turned the propane lantern down to its lowest setting and sat on my bunk with my back against the wall.
Clark stayed up.
He sat on his bunk with the tin cup in his hands.
He wasn't drinking from it anymore.
