Reporting by Malachy Clerken in the Irish Times this morning about yesterday's monster final between Cork and Limerick.
Of course, Limerick were victorious in the end.
Even the numbers from the day feel a bit upside down.
Limerick led just four times in the game and only once the final one for more than a minute.
Cork didn't score a point from play in the second half yet, still got to the 70th minute one ahead.
I was thinking reading that this morning, reading Ken Early's preview of the World Cup, that I'd love to be a sports journalist.
Watching what you're obsessed about and writing about it.
That's your job.
That's it, isn't it?
That's perfect.
That's perfect.
Of course, I was never obsessed enough about sport, as in the statistics and all that, to be a sports journalist.
You have to be obsessed.
And people like Malachy Clerk and I, so too was Ken Early, and the list goes on.
We're blessed in this country with amazing sports journalists.
Speaking of Ken Early, great preview.
He speaks of Gianni Infantino, FIFA's boss man.
He calls him Johnny.
And he describes how he may just have ruined the World Cup.
48 teams.
