It was a total shit show.
I mean, and we've been in a lot of these tough briefings over the last year, as you can imagine, especially the last few months.
The level of, it wasn't even passive aggressive, it was straight aggression from many Republicans and Democrats
asking very reasonable questions like, you know, what is our goal?
Why are we having no plan when we're now sending a brigade combat team of Army soldiers to now Marine Expeditionary Units from both sides of the globe?
And they literally looked us in the eye and said, we're working on the plan for what they're going to do.
Well, I actually asked them, what am I supposed to tell families in my district that have loved ones in those units that are literally underway via boat or plane right now?
And it was like a blank stare.
And you think about what a betrayal that is to the best of our country who are willing to risk their life on the trust that we'll do right by them.
And so the question is, we heard some of those comments from Republicans today, and I appreciate that they finally said a little bit of that publicly, but will they actually back that up?
Will they oppose a $200 billion additional blank check on top of a trillion dollar defense budget with no explanation and no plan and clearly no honesty or integrity from the commander in chief?
Well, they've failed multiple times, Republicans, to exert control.
that check and balance that our founders and framers intended.
We had multiple war powers resolutions we put forward, and they just absolutely spineless in those moments.
This is where the rubber really hits the road, though, when, to Chris's point, we're talking about people's health care, the pain and pressure points people are feeling, rather than sending more bombs halfway across the world and our troops.
And so...
I still remain honestly optimistic that there are, particularly some of the Republican veterans that served in these wars that we served in, in Iraq and Afghanistan, that will finally say enough is enough.
I mean, this guy thinks it's a video game, continues to double down and triple down on his bad decisions, and doesn't even have the dignity to take off his baseball cap at a dignified transfer.
So...
And that was in front of a group of House Republicans, literally telling them, you are powerless, and they all applauded him.
