There's a town in that seat called Griffith
It used to be well known for growing a lot of marijuana, but it's an Italian settlement.
The Italians, when they came out of Europe, the Second World War, a lot of them went to Griffith.
Well, that was unbelievable.
Four out of five polling booths in Griffith recorded a swing of more than 30% to the One Nation candidate.
So the Libs are in big trouble.
Well, some are suggesting they're going to have to talk about it, including the Shadow Treasurer, Tim Wilson, who said it's something we normally would be with the Nationals, but we're going to have to have a look at this.
The more moderate, and he's fairly moderate, but the real moderate Liberals are going, no way are we getting involved with One Nation.
We're just not going to join up with them.
I think the reality is going to hit them straight across the face at some point soon, and they're going to have to start doing deals.
Because, look, Pauline Hanson, if she goes to the lower house and wins a seat at the federal election, you've already got David Farley there, you've got Barnaby Joyce there.
And I said this to you last week, you're in a position where you're going to have three independents with perhaps a balance of power.
Well, a little bit of that, but if you dig down into the weeds of this vote on the weekend, there are a lot of Labour voters in that electorate when you look at the big centres like Albury.
So there would be some skin off Labour in this as well.
And Hanson's now pledged to go hard on Labour seats in Western Sydney.
She says she's got the migrant vote now wrapped up.
Now, whether that's right or not, and whether that was just in the mood of Sunday after winning so well, who knows?
But there is some evidence that these votes are coming off Labour and the coalition at the same time.
Probably not.
I mean, they will break a very strong election promise that they went to the 2022 election with, and that was we will not, in the 2025 election indeed, we will not touch capital gains and we will not touch negative gearing.
