I'm scared.
I'm scared.
And it was at night.
And without them, if we hadn't been together, I don't think we would have managed the trip.
You know, looking back, I think absolutely it was a mixture of both.
Like I've never... I mean, even migrating to Australia, people thought I was mad or brave.
And I didn't think...
Anything.
Yeah, well, let's just do it.
Really, there was not much going on in the head.
I just thought, oh, well, that's something I can do.
No sense of danger and that was the whole thing about my travels through Southeast Asia.
No sense of danger.
I just walked into danger almost everywhere I went but somehow survived.
So the first night we were in Bali, and you've got to remember Bali 50 years ago was only Indonesian food, one or two big hotels but mainly lossmans, all run by families, and a few surfers and mud streets, no hot water.
And out came the dope.
I'm in Bali and I thought...
Well, I always said to myself, if it finds me, it's okay.
If I have to find it, I shouldn't do it.
But if it finds me, it's all right.
