So her manager would be the head of news.
So the political reporter reports to the head of news at TVNZ.
They were informed the day after.
then nothing happens for a year.
So that seems very strange as well.
She must have had the support of that manager over the year.
So what changed suddenly when the story became public?
Yeah, there does seem to be a remarkable coincidence, isn't it, that Annie O'Brien, a right-wing commentator, surfaces this story.
It coincides with an attack from the government on the media and on TVNZ generally.
I hate the idea of being a conspiracy theorist, and I don't like conspiracy theories, but you start looking at the coincidence of it, and it doesn't feel that comfortable in my view.
But if you look at what's been going on with Mikey, I think from day one there has been some question marks around her, but here's where I think TVNZ have let her down.
The very first poll that she covered, she sensationalised it.
Now, how was that allowed to happen?
Why wasn't the head of news and the producers right across that poll?
They should have said to her, look, Mikey, this has just gone a bit too far.
Let's pull this back into a more realistic state.
And I think that lack of support has been a problem for Mikey in her term as political editor.
