Well, part of that was he had a bad bullpen a couple of those years.

Failed with the Mets, failed with the Cardinals.
To me, the person I knew the best was Tony La Russa.
So much of what I know about managing and dealing with players and managing bullpens and games and preparing teams to play for the game came from La Russa.
I had long talks with him through the years about it, and
